About Running Belay
A running belay is a technique climbers often use to provide some protection from a fall while the entire team is traveling at the same time. The rope connecting the team members runs through some form of protection (pickets, screws, bolts, or rock pro). Climbers often use this technique on easier terrain where a fall is unlikely, but climbing without some protection is unwise or dangerous.
It’s also similar to how I approach life: be adventurous, take calculated risks to enjoy life, but leverage friends and support structures to ensure that everybody comes home safely.
During the week I’m a project manager at Microsoft where I work to build large scale services. When I’m not in the office you’ll find me climbing, taking pictures, and experimenting with confections. In short: exploring.
